The Healing Power of Music
Updated: Nov 6, 2020
Music is capable to reduce depression, anxiety, aids pain relief, improves sleep, dementia, Parkinson's disease, eliminates toxins from the body, and more.
Harvard University has carried out different investigations of the effect that music has on people's health, especially in the therapeutic sense, to heal diseases.
The waves of music affect the waves of the brain, reprogramming it positively, and obtaining the desired effect.
Also, since the brain alone creates waves, music can positively alter them, causing rehabilitation or recovery from emotional or mental conditions.
There are different types of waves in the brain, and each one of them works differently.
Delta → Deep sleep, dreaming, trance, and unconscious, deeply relaxed states.
Theta → Relaxation, meditation, creativity, drowsiness, intuition, daydreaming, fantasizing, emotions, sensation, internal focus, prayer, subconscious mind, trance like-state.
Alpha → Relaxed focus, stress reduction, positive thinking, fast learning, reflective, restful, tranquil, conscious, awakeness of self mind, mind-body integration, centering, healing.
Betha → Focused attention, cognitive thinking, problem-solving, active, busy, active mind, alertness, agitation, increase mental ability, awareness of self and surrounding, math, planning, activation of mind, and body functions.
Gamma → High level of cognition, memory recall, peak awareness, problem-solving, concentration, integrated thoughts, simultaneously process information from different areas in the brain.
The deficiency of any type of waves in the brain can affect our mind, behavior, and body functioning.
Binatural beats
In the process of healing and recovery of both the brain and the body, beats or musical notes are used.
When two different frequency of the same beat is used in music, where an illusory effect is produced, each ear being able to hear a different beat is what is called binatural beats. This combination of beats makes the brain use both hemispheres at the same time and seeks a balance between the beats heard in each ear.
In general, binatural beats are well known for these benefits:
reduce anxiety
the better long term memory
increase focus and concentration
enhanced psychomotor performance
lower stress
increase relaxation
foster positive moods
improve confidence
promote creativity
help manage pain
Side effects of Binatural beats: al the moment, the only damage or consequence is hearing loss if your headphones are too loud. To prevent it, try to use a moderated volume.
